The Baby Boomers

February 20 | 16:00 - 16:45

Clock Tower Square
Hogdzin Lam, Thimphu, Bhutan

The band first came together three years ago when Dawa Drakpa (lead guitar and vocals) played the song “Can’t buy me love” for his friend Ugay and proclaimed that it was his own creation. Luckily Ugay Tsheri (vocals) didn’t believe him but he was inspired by the music and Dawa’s passion, to start a band with Dawa and Dawa’s brother Dorji Wangchuck . Dawa and Ugay were students at The Royal Thimphu College and Dorji was still in high school when they decided to audition for “The Music Spotlight” on BBS2, the Television program that gives new bands a “spotlight”.

They were chosen for the show and officially launched their music career. Shortly after the BBS show premiered they entered and won a music competition and met one of the judges, Kinley Wangchuk, the owner of Mojo Park and Radio Valley. Kinley Wangchuk was impressed by the three boys and invited them to play at Mojo Park, one of the only live music venues in Thimphu. There the three met Sajan Sherpa (drummer ) and Tashi Namgel (bass and rhythm guitar) and the band was complete.
