Fusing rigorous methods from computational physics with state-of-the-art computing\, dS uses real-time 3d capture to interpret people as fields whose movement creates ripples and waves in an invisible sea of energy. The result is interactive graphics and soundscapes\, all of which arises in direct response to the motion of dancers as they use their bodies to sculpt the virtual field in which they are embedded. dS provides a unique and subtle glimpse into the beauty of our everyday movements\, coaxing us to imagine how we interact with the hidden energy matrix and atomic world in which we are embedded and which forms the fabric of nature\, but is too small for our eyes to see. It’s a next-generation installation that provides educational insight into state-of-the-art science\, and it provides an opportunity to contemplate emergence\, dissipation\, and the interconnected dynamism of the natural world – from the microscopic to the cosmic. dS has arisen through a unique collaboration involving the NanoDance collective\, a talented group of scientists\, artists\, and engineers. dS is led by Royal Society research fellow\, Dr. David Glowacki\, an academic jointly based across Stanford University and Bristol University. Support for dS comes from Arts Council England\, Stanford Arts Institute\, Z Space\, the Royal Society of London\, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council\, NVIDIA\, the Watershed digital media centre\, the University of Bristol\, and Interactive Scientific Ltd. At 24\, using Super Collider\, an object-oriented music programming language\, Mileece released a series of compositions inspired by cycles and formations in nature as her critically acclaimed debut album “Formations”. Shortly thereafter\, she toured with bands Múm\, Mice Parade and HIM\, playing live generative compositions via her custom made interactive instruments. In 2004\, Mileece was commissioned by BOX\, the EDS Innovation Centre at the London School of Economics\, to create a participatory-based interactive generative harmonic sonic art composition and interface. The success of this project led to her invitation as BOX artist in residence during which Mileece designed and installed the first prototype of her plant biofeedback system that enables plant bio-emissions to be transformed into a lush and complex harmonic soundscape. In tandem with the original people oriented interface design\, these two systems combine to form an aesthetically oriented interspecies sound improvisation system. It is only now\, after years of extensive collaborations and international performances as a beatboxer and bassist\, has Bellatrix revealed a new slant to her identity as an artist. It turns out that Bellatrix has an unusually distinctive singing voice\, and a whole load of songs that nobody had ever heard before. It can be an amateur camera or a professional camera\, it doesn't really matter. My challenge is to lead students to learn\, to observe and capture the essence of the place and the local traditional people. The old traditions and ways of life are being threatened to modernization -‐ even in seemingly remote places like the ones we will be visiting\, mainly due to the younger generations not wanting to follow in their parents’ footsteps. This\, is my goal for all of you.“ Bio: Suki is a self-taught documentary photographer. Since 1991\, he has been been working to register the native world of Latin America. This included publishing the book “Guardians of Time”\, Portraits of the spirit of Latin America in 2003. For this\, he has traveled across 8 countries and lived in 25 native communities. He is currently working on his new editorial project “Africa in the Americas”\, documenting the existing heritage of African people in the Americas and “Sumba tribal people” a unique island in Indonesia. His works have been published in books and magazines such as National Geographic (Cover February 2005)\, Time magazine\, Newsweek\, UNICEF\, Travel & Leisure and UNICEF. He has given numerous lectures\, workshops and exhibitions in museums and art galleries around the world. Surrounded by strangers\, clutching an acoustic guitar\, having just told the other members of his Mercury Prize nominated band\,Portico Quartet\, that he needed this two week holiday to decide whether he was permanently leaving them\, he started to sing. Roll forward to May 2014\, and armed with a critically acclaimed\, top 10 UK album in 'First Mind'\, he made the right decision. For the 28–year–old\, who featured on the BBC Sound of 2014 long–list in January\, and sold–out every UK show he's played for the past twelve months\, picking up the guitar again felt like a homecoming after five years as Britain's foremost player of the hang – the Swiss percussion instrument invented in the early 2000s. The freeform jazz of Portico was switched for a trusty acoustic guitar\, and whilst the sparse\, cleansed beauty of Nick Drake's music can be heard\, there's a distinct sense of adventure more akin to the likes of Steve Reich\, and even the guitar–picking intricacies of John Martyn that sits a lot closer to his sound. It's difficult to pinpoint but enriching to listen to. Mulvey listened over and over to songs such as Lennon's Jealous Guy and Prince's When Doves Cry\, pulling them apart to understand their intricacies. "My playing is all about lines\, not strumming chords. It's about having motion and rhythm and groove. It doesn't have to be complex\, but it has to be animated. Singer–songwriter stuff\, Philip Glass – it's all in there." Mulvey may look like he started afresh\, but he insists that everything is connected. "Even though there's a surface level difference between my music then and now\, it's all the same to me. I do the same things on the guitar that I did on the hang. It's about repetition\, hypnotic music\, the groove." It can also help them unleash their hidden talents which will create new opportunities for them”. HSM generally performs through socially aware themes such as the world No Tobacco Day\, climate change awareness and drug free societies and it will be taking part in the festival through two different mediums of Sixth Sense and the Kids Choir. Luckily Ugay Tsheri (vocals) didn't believe him but he was inspired by the music and Dawa's passion\, to start a band with Dawa and Dawa's brother Dorji Wangchuck . Dawa and Ugay were students at The Royal Thimphu College and Dorji was still in high school when they decided to audition for "The Music Spotlight" on BBS2\, the Television program that gives new bands a "spotlight". They were chosen for the show and officially launched their music career. Shortly after the BBS show premiered they entered and won a music competition and met one of the judges\, Kinley Wangchuk\, the owner of Mojo Park and Radio Valley. Kinley Wangchuk was impressed by the three boys and invited them to play at Mojo Park\, one of the only live music venues in Thimphu. He's won the BBC 4 Poetry Slam with his spoken words\, and toured the world collaborating with artists as diverse as Chris Wood and Kenya's Ayub Ogada. Although his roots are in hiphop\, his work draws equally on folk shanties and old blues\, running through the rain and supermarkets of England with a naked honesty\, a sideways smile and a twist of phrase. Find Dizraeli on his official website\, Facebook and Twitter. Bellatrix 2009 World Champion beatboxer and Guildhall trained jazz double bassist Bellatrix is known for her work with independent power-house girl band The Boxettes\, and with psychedelic hip-hop outfit Dizraeli and the Small Gods. In her new show\, Bellatrix uses live looping with her voice\, bass and synth to create a primal sounding bed for her kooky melodies. The Last Yak Herder of Dhe is a journey to the mysterious village of Dhe in Mustang\, Nepal. It is an attempt to unravel the life and times of people who try to survive on a rugged terrain in one of the most climate change vulnerable countries in the world. The objective of the documentary is to showcase the impact of climate change on the local lives of the Himalayan regions of upper Mustang through the struggle between highlander Shepard and his cattle\, their struggle and venture to fit into the adaptation for survival. The documentary will provide visual shots of the village of Dhe\, that has been under the shadow of development and as well as climate change. The village is undergoing resettlement after 400 years to the new land in the main stream of Kali Gandaki. This is the second resettlement of the same village due to climate change issue. The effects of climate change scenes will be portrayed throughout the documentary (such as wind swept plateaus\, soil erosion\, Land slides near village\, crop failure\, water scarcity\, abandoned village\, resettled village\, infertile pasture lands etc.).
